Loft Storage in Maryland
We make loft storage for homes in Maryland, designed around the room you have. Your eaves cupboard is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.
- An empty dormer that could hold shelves
- No wardrobe that fits under the slope
- A new loft conversion that needs storage

About our loft storage in Maryland
Sloping ceilings make standard wardrobes hard to fit. We shape wardrobes to the slope, putting hanging space at the tall end and shelves or drawers where it is low. It uses the full height of the room. The design visit in Maryland is where we work it out. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are a boarded loft with no proper shelving and a new loft conversion that needs storage.
A hall in a home built since 2000 is often compact, with several doors leading off it, which leaves little wall for storage. Around Maryland, many homes were built since 2000, so that is worth planning for. Even a shallow run can hold coats and shoes without crowding the doors.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. The finish is stated too, whether that is spray painting or hand painting.

Fitting day, step by step
In older rooms, the furniture usually has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it looks as though it was always there. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Stud walls can carry pipes and cables, so we check before drilling, and heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor. Other trades handle any new sockets or plumbing, ideally before fitting day.
- First we hear about the loft room and what you’d like to store.
- At the design visit, the room and the route up are measured.
- We agree the cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, and send a written quote.
- The storage is made at our workshop, in sections sized for the stairs.
- We carry it up, fit it and check every door and drawer with you. Any hand painting is done in the loft.
Preparing the room
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
Arranging a design visit
If you know what you want, say so; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Maryland homes and loft storage
In the neighbourhood around Maryland, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 55%) and before 1919 (about 19%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Within a mile of the centre of Maryland, 4 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mainly about the outside of buildings. About 67% of households in the area around Maryland live in purpose-built flats, the 2021 Census shows. For a flat, eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, the lift and the doors. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.
If your home is one of the older houses near Church of St John the Evangelist, the knee walls of a converted loft can take drawers as well as cupboards. Sutton House, about 2.1 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as The Theatre Royal, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent.

What affects the price in Maryland
Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
- The number of doors and drawers
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- Spray painting or hand painting
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. Let us know about parking during the design visit.
Before the design visit
Here’s what helps us most when you contact us:
- Approximate measurements of the space
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we have measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, message us from the contact page.
Looking after your furniture
Looking after painted furniture is simple. These habits help most:
- Bring paint colours you like to the design visit
- Make a list of what you want to store in the eaves
- Measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landing
- Empty the eaves so we can see what’s behind
Keep the ventilation behind the eaves clear. Leave the gaps we’ve designed in. It helps prevent damp behind the storage.
Check now and then that handles and hinges are tight. Tightening early stops a small looseness getting worse. If something stops working smoothly, tell us about the room on our contact form and describe it.
Flats, leases and landlords
If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways as well as the room, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through without a struggle.
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Tell us about them during the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.
What loft storage cannot fix
We design, make and fit the furniture. In practice, that means:
- Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves
- Building Regulations approval for a conversion
- Converting the loft itself, which is not our work
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.

Questions from Maryland
I live in a flat in Maryland. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
I live near Stratford (London) station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Newham and the rest of London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Can you convert my loft as well?
No. We don’t carry out loft conversions. We design and fit storage once the room is in place, from eaves cupboards to wardrobes under the slopes.
Can I send photos before the visit?
Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, particularly with rough sizes. To send them, get in touch through our contact form.
Is it possible to fit a wardrobe under the slope?
Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, with hanging at the tall end and shelves or drawers lower down. It uses the full height of the room. We plan it during the design visit.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you’ve chosen.
