Loft storage in Upminster
About our loft storage in Upminster
The low space behind a knee wall is often the most useful in the room. Eaves cupboards and pull-out drawers built into the knee wall put it to work. Drawers bring the back of the space within reach. We measure and plan for the space you have in Upminster. If your home has needing storage in a loft office and low eaves that nobody can use, that is what eaves cupboards are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around Upminster, the hall is often wide enough for coat and shoe storage. Bay windows suit seating with drawers or lift-up lids, with a grille where there’s a radiator underneath. Eaves cupboards are measured and made for the house you have.
You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and talk it over at home. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Off-the-shelf pieces come in the maker’s finishes. Ours is spray-painted or hand-painted in a colour agreed with you, so it can match the walls and the woodwork. Bays, box rooms and stair bulkheads are where off-the-shelf furniture struggles most, and interwar homes often have all three. Fitted furniture is made around them.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Tell us about parking during the design visit, so it can be planned.

Fitted storage in Upminster
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 52% of the housing in the area around Upminster, with about 32% built between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how eaves cupboards are fixed and fitted. Near the centre of Upminster, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Laurence (Grade I), under half a mile south-west, and Upminster Windmill (Grade II*), less than half a mile west. For a listed home, internal works that affect its character can need listed building consent from the council, for instance removing or fixing into original panelling. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. The ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) now covers the whole of London, Havering included. It applies to the vans that deliver and fit furniture in Upminster, as it does anywhere else in London. Access and parking are talked through at the design visit.
For a family home near Upminster Junior School, eaves cupboards can be planned around what a family needs to keep, from coats and bags to sports kit. If you live near St. Andrew's Park, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things. If you live in a flat close to Upminster station, eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.
Upminster is about 3 miles west of Romford, in the London Borough of Havering. From period terraces to newer flats in Upminster, the furniture is designed around the room as we find it. Across Havering, we cover Upminster and the places around it.

How we price loft storage
Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- How big the furniture is
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, and the quote follows.
Before the design visit
To help us picture the room, please include:
- Your postcode and the borough
- How you want to use the space
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
It’s useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, along with rough measurements. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.
Common questions about loft storage
Is parking a problem for fitting in Upminster?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Can you make loft storage for a home in Upminster?
Yes. We cover all of Havering and the rest of London, and Upminster is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, and then we send a quote.
Will the storage fit up my loft stairs?
Every piece is made in sections that fit up the stairs. At the design visit, we measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landings. That way, even a large wardrobe can reach the loft.
Do you do the loft conversion too?
No, the conversion itself isn’t our work. Our part is the storage once the loft is a finished room, from eaves cupboards to wardrobes under the slopes.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you get in touch.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two choices: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.

How fitting works for loft storage
Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. If you have a driveway, it can make unloading simpler, so let us know during the design visit. Otherwise, a visitor permit or a nearby bay helps. Doorways, stairs and floors are covered on the way in.

Ask for a quote
Getting a quote starts with some details: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. When you are ready, use our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a written quote.
Advice
What it is made from
Spray-painted finish
Spray painting suits angled panels and plain fronts alike. It’s carried out in the workshop for an even coat. Any paint colour agreed with you can be used.
Pull-out drawers
Drawers that pull out make the eaves easy to use. Everything is in view when the drawer is open. We plan them around any access the eaves need.
When is bespoke worth it?
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.
Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, and standard units leave gaps.
