Loft Storage in Victoria

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on loft storage in Victoria starts with a design visit, and everything is made in our workshop.

  • Space under the eaves going to waste
  • Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs
  • Boxes piled on loft boards

Flats, leases and landlords

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. We choose fixings to suit the wall.

Loft storage in Victoria: what you get

Loft rooms are often bedrooms, so storage for clothes matters. A wardrobe under the slope, knee-wall drawers and dormer shelves make a complete set. Planned together, they make the room feel ordered. We design them around what you need to store in Victoria. If you’re living with a new loft conversion that needs storage and a sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe, eaves cupboards made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed can solve it.

In streets where many homes were built before 1919, as they were around Victoria, under-stairs cupboards in older terraces often house the meters or the fuse board. Those have to stay reachable, so any storage is designed around them. Sash and bay windows are common in houses of that age too, and good places for seating with storage below.

Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out, so it can be arranged before fitting day. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Before and after fitting day

New paint needs time to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. Beyond that, these tips help:

  • Choose a calm colour for the loft
  • Think about what will go in each cupboard or drawer
  • Note how narrow the loft stairs are
  • Find out what’s behind the eaves, from insulation to vents

When we have finished fitting, the cupboards and drawers are ready. New paintwork takes time to cure fully, so go easy on it to begin with. Avoid sticky tape, heavy knocks and harsh cleaners while it hardens.

Sharp edges and heavy boxes can chip a painted edge. Put tools in a case so they do not knock the paint. A small chip on a hand-painted finish is easy to touch in.

What loft storage can’t fix

It is worth being clear about where our work stops:

  • Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off
  • Any work on the structure of the house
  • Any wiring, which needs an electrician

If in doubt, you can message us from the contact page and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.

What it’s made from

  • Eaves doors and drawers
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Sloped wardrobe tops

Bespoke loft storage or ready-made?

Off-the-shelf furniture is made for straight walls and full-height ceilings. Under a slope, it leaves large gaps and wasted space. Storage made for the loft follows its shape. It costs more than off-the-shelf furniture, and what you gain is the space a standard piece cannot reach. Standard furniture is drawn for modern rooms, so its proportions can look odd in a tall period room, whereas fitted pieces can pick up the room’s height and mouldings, with panels and details to suit the house.

Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, which the quote allows for. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit.

Loft storage in Victoria: local notes

Homes built before 1919 make up about 48% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Victoria, with about 18% built since 2000, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. The centre of Victoria is within about a quarter of a mile of the Grosvenor Gardens Conservation Area. The controls in a conservation area are mostly about the outside of buildings, so furniture fitted inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. The council can confirm if you are not sure. More than a third of the homes in the area around Victoria (about 48%) were built before 1919, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Many older terraces have had loft conversions, leaving eaves spaces and slopes that suit fitted storage; we build storage once the loft is converted or boarded.

For families living near St Peter's Eaton Square CofE Primary School, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up. If your home is one of the older houses near St. Michael's Church, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. Near listed buildings like Buckingham Palace Riding School, under half a mile north of the centre of Victoria, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

Victoria is about 1 mile north of City of Westminster, part of the City of Westminster. Our work takes in places right across Westminster, from the busiest high streets to quiet residential roads.

Nearby, we also make loft storage in Belgravia (1 mile north-west), Pimlico (1 mile south-east), Westminster (1 mile north-east), Millbank (1 mile north-east) and Brompton (1 mile west). We also make loft storage in nearby places such as Marylebone (2 miles north), Covent Garden (2 miles north-east), Aldwych (2 miles north-east), Paddington Green (2 miles north-west), Paddington (2 miles north-west) and Connaught Village (2 miles north-west).

FAQs: loft storage in Victoria

Can you make loft storage for a home in Victoria?

Yes. We cover all of Westminster and the rest of London, and Victoria is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, and then we send a quote.

My home in Victoria is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?

At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. Eaves cupboards are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.

Should I send photos?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.

How much does loft storage cost?

The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. The size of the room, the amount of storage and the finish all shape the price. For a quote, send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

How long does it take to fit loft storage?

The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Every part is built in our workshop before we arrive. If you’d like the fitting on a Saturday, that can be arranged.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

What happens on fitting day

Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. The time the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Parking on terraced streets can be tight, especially in a controlled parking zone, so it helps to tell us at the design visit what’s outside. The van is unloaded quickly, with the sections carried straight in. Saturday fitting can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about your converted or boarded loft, and how you get up to it.
  2. We come to measure the room and the way up to it, and go through the design.
  3. You receive a quote in writing for the storage we’ve discussed, for you to look over.
  4. The cupboards and drawers are made at our workshop, in sections sized for the loft stairs.
  5. We carry it up, fit it and leave it ready to use, with the finish sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
  • Keep pets in another room while we work
