Walk-in wardrobes in Canary Wharf, Tower Hamlets
Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Canary Wharf, each designed at a visit to your home.
- A walk-in wardrobe in a box room
- The right mix of long and short hanging
- A dressing area in part of a bedroom

About our walk-in wardrobes in Canary Wharf
We fit walk-in wardrobes in Canary Wharf and across London. We begin with a design visit, measuring the room and talking through the design, followed by a quote. Everything is made at our workshop and fitted in your home. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote, so you will know before we start. We make walk-in wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are room for two wardrobes in one space and more space for clothes and shoes.
In a compact bedroom, the swing of hinged doors can clash with the bed, so the layout and the kind of door are worked out together. Many homes around Canary Wharf were built since 2000, and bedrooms in newer homes are often compact. We measure the space in front as well as the wall.
A quote in writing follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish.

What affects the cost of walk-in wardrobes
Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. The things that affect it are:
- The overall size of the piece
- The number of doors and drawers
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- How square the room is
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay. Let us know about parking at the measuring visit, so it can be planned.
Helping us understand the room
Ahead of the design visit, we’ll typically ask about:
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
Rough measurements are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit. To get started, tell us about the room on our contact form with a few details about the room. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.
From workshop to your room
Finishing comes last. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is normally only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so let us know what applies during the design visit. The furniture comes in sections and is fixed in place. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and let us know about the room and what you want to store.
- We visit, measure up and plan the layout with you, with shoe storage and a dressing table if you’d like them.
- We send a quote that sets out the layout, materials and finish, for you to read through.
- Everything is made and finished in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.
How to prepare
- Tell us about parking near your home
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
Getting a quote
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, send us a few details through our contact form.

Questions from Canary Wharf
I live near Canary Wharf station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Tower Hamlets and the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
My home in Canary Wharf is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Walk-in wardrobes are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?
An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps, which helps avoid condensation and mould. If there’s damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.
Can a walk-in wardrobe be part of a bedroom?
Yes, where the room is large enough. One end or a corner can be set aside with a run of units, with doors or left open. A new partition wall is building work, so that’s for your builder.
How much time does fitting need?
It depends on the room. How long fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote, so you will know before we start.
What happens when you come to measure?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We also check the walls and floors and note radiators, sockets and other things in the way, and the written quote comes afterwards.
What prompts walk-in wardrobes in Canary Wharf
Some homes have a small room that never quite earns its keep. Turning it into a dressing room can make better use of it instead of a store for odds and ends.
If any of these sound familiar, it is worth getting in touch:
- A side each for a couple
- A dressing table with drawers and a mirror
- Moving wardrobes out of the bedroom
- Proper shoe storage
Queen's House, about 1.8 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice.
What to check before you book
- How doors and drawers are fitted
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- Real projects you can actually look at
- Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
Flats, blocks and rented homes
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, after measuring the route at the measuring visit.
If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so tell us about it at the measuring visit.
Bedroom storage in Canary Wharf
In the neighbourhood around Canary Wharf, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 66%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 16%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Near the centre of Canary Wharf, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Matthias (Grade II*), less than half a mile north-east, and New City College (Grade II), less than half a mile north-east. If your own home is listed, changes inside that alter its character, such as fixing into or removing original joinery, can require listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. The ULEZ, run by TfL, takes in all of London, so Tower Hamlets is inside it. That includes the vans that bring and fit furniture in Canary Wharf. Access and parking are talked through at the measuring visit.
If you live near Sir John McDougall Gardens, keeping walk-in wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright. If you live in a flat close to Canary Wharf station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.
Canary Wharf is about 2 miles west of Whitechapel, part of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. We work across all London boroughs and the City of London, and Canary Wharf is part of that. We cover places right across Tower Hamlets.
Design visits and fitting in E14, SE16 and E22 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. We cover homes on streets like Castor Lane, Cassilis Road and Dockyard Lane, along with the roads around them, whether you want walk-in wardrobes or another piece made for the room. Main roads around Canary Wharf include the A1261, and we plan where the van can stop before fitting day. Other places close to Canary Wharf include London Docklands (1 mile east), Poplar (1 mile north-east), Heron Quays (1 mile south-west), Coldharbour (1 mile east) and Blackwall (1 mile east). Across the rest of Tower Hamlets, our area takes in Whitechapel (2 miles west), Spitalfields (3 miles west), Tower Hill (3 miles west), Bethnal Green (2 miles north-west), Cambridge Heath (3 miles north-west) and Stepney (2 miles north-west).
Around Canary Wharf
Our area takes in the homes around Tower Hamlets College, The Ledger Building pub and Canary Wharf College 3. Canary Wharf has its own railway station: Canary Wharf station. A little further out are Poplar Hospital (0.7 miles north-east) and The Pumphouse Educational Museum (0.8 miles west). For a walk, there is Lavender Pond.
Where other trades come in
Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, and there are a few other limits too:
- Advice on your lease
- New lights or sockets
- Painting the walls of the room
If in doubt, you can drop us a line using the contact form and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.
