Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Connaught Village
Many London homes have a small room that’s awkward as a bedroom. Fitted out from wall to wall, it can take the clothes that crowd the bedroom, and the bedroom itself feels calmer. We plan the layout so you can stand, turn and see everything. Most enquiries start with a calmer, clearer bedroom and a side each for a couple; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Around Connaught Village, most households live in purpose-built flats, and blocks often have rules on lift booking, deliveries and working hours. It helps to check those with the managing agent before fitting day. If your flat is leasehold, your lease may also need checking before walk-in wardrobes are fixed to the walls.
Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

How fitting works for walk-in wardrobes
When we arrive on fitting day, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Noise from drilling travels in a block, so neighbours may appreciate a note, and many buildings limit noisy work to certain hours. We plan the day to suit those rules. Saturdays can be arranged if your building allows work then.
- It starts with a short note from you.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling at several points, as few rooms are truly square.
- You receive a quote in writing covering the design, materials and finish.
- The units are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- On fitting day each unit is levelled and scribed to follow the walls.
- Before we leave we go through the doors and drawers with you; new paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician ahead of time
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
How to get a quote
To make a start, send us a few details through our contact form and tell us a little about the room and what you want the furniture to do. We then arrange a design visit to measure and go through the design, and send you a quote in writing afterwards.

Questions we are often asked
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Connaught Village?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Is Connaught Village in the area you cover for walk-in wardrobes?
Yes, Connaught Village is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Westminster and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
Do I get to choose the colour?
You choose it, and we agree it with you before the furniture is finished. Whichever finish you pick, it’s in the colour you’ve chosen.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?
Walls and floors that aren’t true are part of the job in older homes. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base.
Do walk-in wardrobes need ventilation?
Yes, it helps avoid condensation and mould. We design the units to let air move and walls should be dry before we fit.
Bespoke walk-in wardrobes or ready-made?
Choosing bespoke means a design visit, a quote, workshop time and fitting, as well as a bigger outlay. What you get is storage designed for what you own and the space you have. In a flat, every bit of floor counts, and standalone furniture uses more of it than it needs. Built-in pieces use the full height and the tricky corners, leaving more floor clear.
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size comes first. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

Materials and finishes
Doors and drawer fronts
Drawers suit smaller things, and they can sit below the hanging or within a run of shelves.
Moisture-resistant MDF
The moisture-resistant grade suits walk-in wardrobes on external walls, with ventilation allowed for.
Do you need walk-in wardrobes in Connaught Village?
A spare room or box room that rarely gets used is another reason. Turning it into a dressing room can make better use of it instead of a store for odds and ends.
Common reasons to get in touch include:
- Moving wardrobes out of the bedroom
- Long and double hanging planned around your clothes
- A side each for a couple
- Somewhere for shoes to live
Close to Hyde Park? Morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window.
What to check before you book
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- Whether you’ll get a written quote, not just a figure
- Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
- How they’ll get the furniture into the room
Caring for painted furniture
Because fitted furniture stays put, a little upkeep goes a long way. Here are a few tips worth knowing:
- Think about whether you want doors
- Sort through your clothes before the design visit
- Line up your electrician for any new lights
- Treat new paintwork gently at first
If a hand-painted door gets a knock, it can be touched in. Spray-painted finishes are smooth and even, and clean easily with a soft cloth.
Deal with any damp before the units go in. Cooler external walls can lead to condensation, and ventilation inside the units helps.
