About our walk-in wardrobes in Soho
A walk-in wardrobe gives your clothes a room of their own. It can be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom, fitted out with hanging, shelves and drawers. We make it all in our workshop and fit it in your home, so it follows the walls and sits level. We make walk-in wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are a dressing table with drawers and a mirror and room for a growing wardrobe.
Around Soho, a large share of homes date from before 1919, and in a Victorian or Edwardian bedroom, the chimney breast and its alcoves often shape the room. Fitted storage can sit in the alcoves or span the wall, chimney breast and all. Walls and floors in older houses are rarely true, so the pieces are scribed to the wall and levelled at the base.
You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and talk it over at home. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

How fitting day works
There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Terraced streets in London are often lined with parked cars, so details of permits, bays and any loading restrictions help. The van is unloaded quickly, with the sections carried straight in. Saturday fitting can be arranged.
- You tell us about the room and what you want to store.
- At the design visit we measure the room and plan the hanging, shelves and drawers.
- A quote follows, setting out the design and finish.
- We build everything in our workshop.
- Fitting day: the units are fitted and trimmed to the room.
Before fitting day
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
Ask for a quote
You don’t need exact measurements to get started. We measure everything properly at the measuring visit, along with the walls, floor and ceiling. To get started, message us from the contact page and let us know about the room. The written quote follows the visit.

Questions we are often asked
Does a conservation area in or near Soho affect fitted furniture?
Usually not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, works inside that affect its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Soho?
Yes. Soho is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Westminster and London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
The furniture is built in sections. At the design visit, we measure the route as well as the room.
Can you build a dressing area in my bedroom?
Yes, if there is enough space. One end or a corner can be set aside with a run of units, open or behind doors. Any new partition is for your builder, and we fit the furniture.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two choices: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.
How much does a walk-in wardrobe cost?
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Each walk-in wardrobe is different, so we price it after the design visit. To get started, fill in our short enquiry form.
How we price walk-in wardrobes
The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. That depends on:
- The overall size of the piece
- Doors and drawers, and how many
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.
Before the design visit
When you contact us, these help most:
- Your postcode and the borough
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. When you are ready, message us from the contact page. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.
What walk-in wardrobes cannot fix
We design, make and fit the furniture. That means:
- Lighting and wiring, which are for your electrician
- Damp treatment or repairs
- Painting the walls of the room
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can send us a few details through our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.

Flats, conversions and lettings
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them during the design visit.
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, after checking the walls at the measuring visit.
Before and after fitting day
Because fitted furniture stays put, a little upkeep goes a long way. A few pointers help:
- Consider a mix of doors and open shelves
- Treat new paintwork gently at first
- Line up your electrician for any new lights
- Think about where shoes and bags will go
Keep the room ventilated, particularly on a cooler external wall. Leave a little space behind hanging clothes to help air move.
Plan any lighting with your electrician in good time. Wiring is their work, not ours, and the units can be designed around the lighting.
Bedroom storage in Soho
About 49% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Soho went up before 1919, and about 21% since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. There are 955 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Soho. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. Since the zone was extended to the outer boroughs in August 2023, the whole of London has been inside the ULEZ. It applies to every van that comes to fit furniture in Soho. Access and parking are talked through at the design visit.
For a family home near Soho Parish CofE Primary School, the inside of walk-in wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. For an older house near St Anne's Church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go. If you live near St Anne's Churchyard, morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window.
