Walk-in wardrobes in Hyde Park Estate
Ventilation matters in a room full of clothes, particularly where it sits against a cooler external wall. Moving air helps keep clothes fresh and stops damp building up, so we allow for it in the design. Typical reasons to get in touch are turning a box room into a dressing room and a built-in dressing table; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
Most households around Hyde Park Estate live in purpose-built flats, so bedroom space is often tight and every wall counts. Fitted furniture can be planned floor to ceiling, so storage goes up rather than out. Each piece is made in sections sized for the stairs, lift and doors, then put together in the room.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Hyde Park Estate
Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Hyde Park Estate?
Yes, we work across Westminster, Hyde Park Estate included, and across the rest of London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Does a conservation area in or near Hyde Park Estate affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
How much time does fitting need?
Every room is different. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote, so you will know before we start.
How do you get large furniture into a flat?
Getting it in is planned at the design visit. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doors, and the furniture is made in sections sized to get through.
Can you add sockets inside the units?
No. Any new wiring, sockets or lights need an electrician, and some electrical work in homes is covered by Part P of the Building Regulations. We’ll design around them.
Is it better to have doors or open storage?
Either works. Doors keep dust off and give a calm, finished look, and open storage makes things quick to find. A mix of the two is common.

Is bespoke worth it?
A bespoke walk-in wardrobe takes more planning than buying a system, and it costs more. What you get is storage designed for what you own and the space you have. In a flat, every bit of floor counts, and standalone furniture uses more of it than it needs. Fitted furniture can go to the ceiling and fill a recess exactly.
There is no price list, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing, naming the materials and finish. To start, drop us a line using the contact form.

How fitting works for walk-in wardrobes
The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there’s usually only filling and touching up to do in the room; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. With little room to spare in a flat, pieces come in as they’re needed. Floors are covered and dust is kept down. Fixings are chosen for each wall, solid or plasterboard.
- We start with the room you have in mind and what needs a home. It could be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom.
- We come to measure the room and go through how the space should work, with shoe storage and a dressing table if you’d like them.
- You get a written quote for the design we have agreed.
- The units are built in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.
Before fitting day
- Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
