Wall beds for homes in Parsons Green
We build the bed housing from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. From the front, the folded bed can look like a set of tall cupboards, sitting quietly in the room. If you are living with a proper bed instead of a sofa bed and a spare room that’s rarely slept in, wall beds made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed can solve it.
Ceilings in homes built before 1919 are often tall, and a large share of homes around Parsons Green are that old. Fitted furniture can run right up to the ceiling or the cornice, with high storage for the things you use least. Original mouldings are worked around rather than removed, so the furniture suits the house.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It sets out the wall bed designed for your room, its materials and its finish, and it is what the workshop builds to.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Parsons Green
About 60% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Parsons Green went up before 1919, and about 18% since 2000, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. There are 34 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Parsons Green. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and wall beds can be designed to work around them. More than half of the homes in the streets around Parsons Green (about 60%) were built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. A wall bed has to be fixed securely as its maker specifies, and in houses of that age the walls can be solid brick or lath and plaster, so the fixings are chosen with care.
Near listed buildings like Hurlingham House, about 0.5 miles south of the centre of Parsons Green, older homes may keep original joinery that wall beds can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent. For an older house near St Dionis, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind wall beds is part of the design. For a flat near Imperial Wharf station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

What it costs
Not every room costs the same, and it comes down to:
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- How big the furniture is
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
Rooms that aren’t square take more work: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. That’s reflected in the quote, written once we have measured up.
Getting in touch
Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:
- Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Any ideas or images you’ve saved
To make a start, fill in our short enquiry form and tell us which room you have in mind and what you want the furniture to do. We then arrange a design visit to measure and talk through the design, and a quote in writing follows.
FAQs: wall beds in Parsons Green
Does a conservation area in or near Parsons Green affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.
My house in Parsons Green is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?
Yes, that is normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.
What does a wall bed cost?
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Size, storage and finish all affect the price. To arrange a design visit, message us from the contact page.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps to avoid condensation. If there is damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.
What space does a fold-down bed take up?
It depends on the bed size and the mechanism. We measure up and make sure the bed has room to fold down.
Can I send photos ahead of the visit?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
If you may move soon, a standalone bed you can take with you could suit you better. It is worth thinking about how long you plan to stay before choosing built-in. Tall ceilings in older homes leave a band of empty wall above standard furniture, and that space collects dust instead of storage. Fitted furniture can go all the way up.
In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. It is useful to talk about parking at the design visit.
Why choose us
- Scribed to uneven walls
- Spray painted or hand painted, in the colour you choose
- Work across the whole of London
- Saturdays by prior arrangement
Take a look at how bespoke compares with ready-made or what a quote should include.
What happens on fitting day
There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed at the measuring visit. After that, it is over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. How long the fitting takes depends on the design and how much storage goes around the bed, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Where a period house has been split into flats, the way in often goes through shared parts, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. The sections are sized for the narrowest point on the route. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
- You get in touch with some details about the room. Mention who the bed is for.
