Westminster Bespoke Kitchens

In Westminster, we design bespoke kitchens around the room you actually have. Your kitchen is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.

  • Spaces sized for your oven and fridge
  • Making the most of a galley kitchen
  • Tall larder storage

We’re carpenters, so we make and fit the cabinets, while other trades handle the services. Your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics, so the design allows for pipes, cables and connections. If you are living with spaces sized for your oven and fridge and room for everything in the kitchen, that’s what kitchens are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Ceilings in homes built before 1919 are often tall, and around Westminster, a large share of homes are that age. Kitchen cabinets can go higher, with tall larders and top cupboards for occasional things. Moisture-resistant MDF suits a kitchen, and the paint finish is agreed in your quote.

The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and talk it over at home. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Flats, conversions and lettings

Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, often to make the most of a small or tricky room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray or hand-painted finish.

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.

What happens on fitting day

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it sits neatly against the room. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Original hallway tiles and old floorboards are worth protecting, so they’re covered before anything comes in. Fixings into older walls are made carefully, as lath and plaster can crack if treated roughly. Decorating around the furniture afterwards is for your decorator.

  1. First, you tell us about the kitchen you have and the one you want. It’s useful to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
  2. We visit, measure the walls, floor and ceiling, and go through the design.
  3. A written quote follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made at our workshop.
  5. The kitchen is fitted in your home, and your plumber, electrician and a Gas Safe engineer do the plumbing, electrics and gas.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Arranging a design visit

You do not need exact measurements to get started. We measure everything properly at the design visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, get in touch through our contact form and tell us about the room. The written quote follows the visit.

What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens

When we put a quote together, we consider:

  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls

Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, and that is part of the price. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space.

Before the design visit

When you contact us, these help most:

  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • How you want to use the space

We quote once we have seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. To book a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.

Kitchens in Westminster: local notes

About 47% of the homes in the area around Westminster went up before 1919, and about 25% since 2000, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Part of Westminster is in the Broadway and Christchurch Gardens Conservation Area, according to Historic England’s records. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. Red routes are run by TfL, with tight limits on where and when vehicles can stop. If your street in Westminster joins a main road, it’s worth telling us at the design visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.

Clarence House, about 0.4 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout. Close to St James's Park? A tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as London Underground Headquarters, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

Westminster is in the City of Westminster, about 1 mile north-west of City of Westminster. We design and make bespoke kitchens for homes in Westminster. Our work takes in places right across the rest of London.

Postcode districts we cover here for bespoke kitchens: SW1P, W1J and SW1V. We cover homes on streets such as Eaton Lane, Wilton Road and Castle Lane, along with the roads around them, whether you want bespoke kitchens or another piece made for the room. Westminster is near the A4 and A202; on busy main roads, unloading kitchens takes a little planning. Other places close to Westminster include Millbank (1 mile north), Victoria (1 mile south-west), Pimlico (1 mile south), Vauxhall (1 mile south-east) and Lambeth (1 mile south-east). We also make bespoke kitchens in nearby places such as Paddington Green (2 miles north-west), Paddington (2 miles north-west), Connaught Village (2 miles north-west), Lisson Grove (2 miles north-west), Westbourne (3 miles north-west) and Little Venice (3 miles north-west).

Practical tips

Because fitted furniture stays put, a little upkeep goes a long way. Here are a few tips worth knowing:

  • Make sure an island won’t crowd the room
  • Choose your appliances before the design is final
  • Wipe up spills promptly
  • Think about how you cook and what you store

We adjust the doors and drawers as part of the fitting. Walls and floors shift slightly through the year, so hinges allow small adjustments later.

Think about how the cabinets will get in. We make the cabinets in sections that fit through the doors and up the stairs, so let us know about any narrow spots.

Questions from Westminster

Does a conservation area in or near Westminster affect fitted furniture?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.

Is Westminster in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?

Yes, Westminster is within the area we cover, which takes in all of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

Will a bespoke kitchen suit my uneven floor?

Yes. Each cabinet is trimmed to the wall and levelled, to give a level line for the worktop. That is a big part of why bespoke suits period homes.

How long does fitting take?

It depends on the kitchen. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote.

Is there room for an island in my kitchen?

Where space allows, yes. An island needs clear floor around it to open doors and move about, and we measure for it at the design visit. If the room is narrow, we’ll suggest other layouts.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.
