Bloomsbury Fitted Wardrobes
For homes in Bloomsbury, we make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Each piece is finished by spray or by hand, in the colour you choose.
- Clothes with nowhere proper to go
- Musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall
- Several odd pieces where one run of storage would do
Fitted wardrobes for your home in Bloomsbury
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Walls and floors in older homes are seldom straight or level. Standalone wardrobes may lean or leave uneven gaps against the wall. We set fitted wardrobes level and scribe them to the walls and ceiling. Standard furniture doesn’t allow for boxed-in pipes, risers or meter cupboards, leaving gaps or blocking access. Fitted furniture is built around them.
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.

Fitted wardrobes in Bloomsbury
A fitted wardrobe is built into the room itself, running floor to ceiling and wall to wall. That leaves no gap above to gather dust and no wasted space at the sides. If you are planning fitted wardrobes in Bloomsbury, the first step is a design visit to measure up and go through the design. If you are living with a bedroom that never feels tidy and empty alcoves in the bedroom, that’s what fitted wardrobes are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Most households around Bloomsbury live in purpose-built flats, and in a flat, bedrooms rarely have space to spare. Fitted furniture can be planned floor to ceiling, so storage goes up rather than out. The furniture is built in sections that fit the route into the flat, then put together in the room.
Everything we agree during the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

Bloomsbury homes and fitted wardrobes
The biggest shares of homes in the area around Bloomsbury were built before 1919 (about 44%) and since 2000 (about 21%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Bloomsbury include Church of St Pancras (Grade I), under half a mile north-west, and Church of St Giles in the Fields (Grade I), about 0.6 miles south. For a listed home, changes inside that alter its character may need listed building consent from the council, for instance removing or fixing into original panelling. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Red routes are run by TfL, with tight limits on where and when vehicles can stop. If your street in Bloomsbury joins a main road, it’s worth telling us during the design visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.
If you live in a flat close to London Euston station, fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. The wider area includes historic houses like Dr Johnson's House, about 0.9 miles south-east. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design. If you live near Lincoln's Inn Fields, fitted wardrobes are typically planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay.
Bloomsbury is about 1 mile north-east of St Pancras, in the London Borough of Camden. Design visits and fitting in Bloomsbury can be on a Saturday, by prior arrangement. Across Camden, we cover Bloomsbury and the places around it.
Here we cover the NW1W, W1T and NW1 postcode area for fitted wardrobes. Whether you live on a street such as Drury Lane, Euston Road and Duke's Road or on one nearby, we can arrange a design visit for fitted wardrobes. Bloomsbury sits close to the A401 and A501. If you are just outside Bloomsbury, we also cover St Pancras (1 mile north-east), Euston (1 mile north-west), Kings Cross (1 mile north), Holborn (1 mile east) and Fitzrovia (1 mile west). We also make fitted wardrobes in nearby places such as Hampstead (3 miles north-west), West Hampstead (3 miles north-west), Kentish Town (2 miles north-west), Greenhill (3 miles north-west), Chalk Farm (2 miles north-west) and Dartmouth Park (3 miles north).
Landmarks near Bloomsbury
Our area takes in the homes around Maria Fidelis Catholic School FCJ, Queens Larder Public House and Pilsudski Institute of London. The nearest railway station is London Euston station, about 0.6 miles north-west of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (less than half a mile south-east) and Montfichet's Tower (1.2 miles south-east). Green spaces nearby include Barnsbury Wood and St. James's Park Lake.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well.
Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that aren’t square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths, and standard units leave gaps.
Questions from Bloomsbury
Can you fit furniture in a home close to London Euston station?
Yes. We cover all of Camden and the rest of London. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.
Does a conservation area in or near Bloomsbury affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?
It depends on the room. Hinged doors give full access but need clear space in front. We will help you weigh them up when we visit.
Can you fit wardrobes in a top-floor flat?
Each wardrobe is built in sections that suit the stairs, landings and lift, then assembled in the bedroom. Let us know if your block has lift or concierge booking rules.
Is it OK to put a wardrobe on an outside wall?
Yes. Wardrobes on outside walls are designed with ventilation behind and inside. Any existing damp needs dealing with before fitting.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. You do not need to watch us work, but it is useful to be around at the end.
Materials and finishes
Doors and drawer fronts
Doors can be plain, panelled or shaped to suit the room. You choose a colour that matches or contrasts with the room.
Birch plywood
Shelves inside a wardrobe carry folded clothes, shoes and boxes. Birch plywood helps keep them straight across wider sections.
How we price fitted wardrobes
When we put a quote together, we consider:
- How square the room is
- Parking near your home
- Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- The number of doors and drawers
We do not publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing, with the materials and finish set out. To start, message us from the contact page.
Getting in touch
There’s no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- Your postcode and the borough
Rough sizes are fine at the start. We measure everything properly at the measuring visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, fill in our short enquiry form and let us know about the room. The written quote follows the visit.
How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
There is not much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed at the measuring visit. After that, it is over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. How long the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In a block of flats, the stairs, landings, lift and doors matter as much as the room: fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for each of them. Some older blocks have small lifts or none, which the design allows for.
- It starts when you let us know about the room, the floor it’s on and the wardrobes you want.
- We visit to measure the room and talk through the design, and we measure the stairs, landings and doorways too.
- A quote in writing follows with the design, materials and finish.
- The wardrobes are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections sized for the route we measured.
- Fitting day: the sections come in, are joined and set level, and the doors are hung.
Before fitting day
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
Starting with a design visit
The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and discuss the design with you. A quote in writing follows the visit. To arrange the visit, message us from the contact page.
