Loft storage in Wallend: what you get
We make each eaves cupboard in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which suits drawer boxes and carcasses, and MDF gives the doors and panels a smooth surface for paint. It’s then spray-painted or hand-painted and fitted in your home in Wallend. If your home has space under the eaves going to waste and no wardrobe that fits under the slope, that’s what eaves cupboards are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
Across London, neighbouring streets can be decades apart in age, and so do the awkward corners, from bays and stairs to halls and eaves. Eaves cupboards are designed for the space you have. Any meters, fuse boards or boilers stay accessible.
Our quotes are written in plain words, without jargon. You’ll see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

Flats, blocks and rented homes
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so it’s worth raising during the design visit.
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways not just the room, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through.
Fitted storage in Wallend
Homes built before 1919 make up about 34% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Wallend, with about 34% built since 2000, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. 3 conservation areas have at least part of their area less than a mile from the middle of Wallend. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Around a third of the homes in the area around Wallend (about 34%) were built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). In a newer house with a converted loft, the space under the slopes can be used.
If you live in a flat close to Barking station, eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. If your home is one of the older houses near St John the Baptist's Church, the knee walls of a converted loft can take drawers as well as cupboards. Close to Loxford Park? Eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.
Wallend is within the London Borough of Newham, about 2 miles west of Plaistow. Anywhere in Wallend, the process is the same: a design visit, a quote in writing, furniture built in our workshop and fitting in your home. In Newham, Wallend is one of the places we cover.
Postcode districts we cover here for loft storage: E6, IG11 and E12. Streets in the area include Hall Road, Quay Road and Ascot Road, and homes on each of them are within our area for loft storage. The A117 runs close to Wallend; on busy main roads, unloading eaves cupboards takes a little planning. If you’re just outside Wallend, we also cover East Ham (1 mile south-west), Plashet (1 mile north-west), Upton Park (1 mile west), Manor Park (1 mile north) and Beckton (1 mile south). Across the rest of Newham, our area takes in Plaistow (2 miles west), Stratford (3 miles west), Canning Town (2 miles south-west), Forest Gate (2 miles north-west), Greengate (2 miles west) and Maryland (3 miles west).
Around Wallend
We fit furniture in homes around Dukes Head Public House, Tyndale Academy and Langdon School. For rail, the closest station is Barking station, about 0.9 miles north-east. Well-known places in the area include Newham University Hospital (1.4 miles south-west) and The Who Shop Museum (a few minutes’ walk west).
Questions we’re often asked
Is Wallend in the area you cover for loft storage?
Yes. We cover all of Newham and the rest of London, and Wallend is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, and then we send a quote.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Barking station?
Yes, homes across Newham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not normally. Fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission, even in a conservation area. Listed buildings may need listed building consent for works that affect their character.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
Which materials go into your loft storage?
The storage is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The carcasses and drawer boxes are birch plywood, which is strong and holds screws well, and MDF takes paint well for the doors and panels. The finish is spray-painted or hand-painted.
What do eaves cupboards cost?
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. The size of the room, the amount of storage and the finish all shape the price. For a quote, get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Pricing loft storage in Wallend
There’s no set price, because there’s no set room. The things that affect it are:
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- Parking and unloading on your street
- The internal fittings
- How many doors and drawers there are
In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Let us know about parking at the design visit, so we can plan for it.
Getting in touch
When you contact us, these help most:
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- Your postcode and the borough
- How you want to use the space
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we have measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, fill in our short enquiry form.
Caring for painted furniture
Fitted furniture is part of the room, so it is worth looking after. Here are a few tips worth knowing:
- Think about how you’ll reach into the eaves
- Think about hanging space for a loft bedroom
- Measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landing
- Let us know about parking at the measuring visit
Before we leave, we check every door and drawer with you. Any access to the eaves is checked so it still opens. That way, everything works as planned.
Keep sharp or very heavy items away from the painted fronts. Store tools in a box, not loose against the doors. Minor chips can be touched up with the matching colour.
What happens on fitting day
Fitting day follows a set order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift as well as the room, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.
- To begin, send us a few details through our contact form; a brief note on the loft and the storage you want is enough.
- We visit to measure the slopes and eaves and talk through cupboards, drawers and wardrobes under them.
- Your written quote sets out the storage and the finish.
- The storage is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, cut to the angles we measured.
- On fitting day the units are set level and scribed to the slope and the knee wall, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Preparing the room
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
Ask for a quote
If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.
