Marylebone Walk-in Wardrobes
Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Marylebone, each designed at a visit to your home.
- The right mix of long and short hanging
- Storage for clothes that have outgrown the wardrobe
- A walk-in wardrobe within the bedroom

Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Marylebone
Ventilation matters in a room full of clothes, particularly where it sits against a cooler external wall. Moving air helps keep clothes fresh and stops damp building up, and we design the units to allow for it. Typical reasons to get in touch are the right mix of long and short hanging and somewhere to sit and get ready; the furniture is made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
In a Victorian bedroom, the chimney breast usually sits on a side wall, with a recess to each side. That layout is worth knowing around Marylebone, where a large share of homes were built before 1919. Fitted furniture can fill both recesses and bridge the chimney breast with high cupboards. The flue behind is kept ventilated, and any damp is sorted first.
Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

From workshop to your room
You won’t need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand, as agreed at the measuring visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Older London houses often have narrow hallways and tight turns on the stairs, so walk-in wardrobes are made in sections sized to get through. Floors and stair carpets are protected on the way in and out.
- To begin, use our contact form; a brief note on the room and what it needs to store is plenty.
- At the design visit we measure the room and plan hanging lengths, shelves, drawers and shoe storage with you.
- A written quote follows, setting out the layout, materials and finish.
- The units are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The walk-in wardrobe is fitted, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the inside fittings go in last.
Before fitting day
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
- Make sure pets are kept safely away

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them during the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations. We cannot give advice on leases.
FAQs: walk-in wardrobes in Marylebone
My home in Marylebone is a period house with walls that are not straight. Is that a problem?
Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Bond Street station?
Yes. We cover all of Westminster and the rest of London. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.
Who chooses the colour?
You choose it, and it is agreed with you before painting. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.
How long does fitting take?
Every room is different. The time the fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote.
Do walk-in wardrobes need ventilation?
Yes, it helps avoid condensation and mould. We design the units to let air move and walls should be dry before we fit.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.
What affects the price in Marylebone
There’s no set price, because there is no set room. What affects it comes down to:
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Parking near your home
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.
Before the design visit
When you contact us, these help most:
- Any ideas or images you have saved
- How you want to use the space
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Your postcode and the borough
If you know what you want, say so; if you don’t, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, drop us a line using the contact form.
When you need someone else
Some parts of a job need another trade, from an electrician to a plumber or an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Here’s what to know:
- Building work to create the room
- Painting the walls of the room
- Electrical work in the room
If in doubt, you can message us from the contact page and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Marylebone
In the streets around Marylebone, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 50%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 15%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Marylebone include Chandos House (Grade I), under half a mile north-east, and Church of St Peters (Grade I), under half a mile south. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. In inner London, a large part of the street parking sits inside borough-run controlled parking zones. That normally means a van in Marylebone needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.
If your children go to St Vincent's Catholic Primary School or a school nearby, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else. Close to St Anne's Churchyard? Walk-in wardrobes are normally planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. Living in a block of flats near Bond Street station? Then walk-in wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.
