What prompts TV and media units in Fitzrovia
Most people come to us because of the cables. Cables run everywhere, from the screen to the boxes and the wall, and no stand ever quite hides them. Built-in units give cables somewhere to go.
If you recognise any of these, it is worth talking to us:
- A cabinet that traps heat
- A tangle of wires behind the TV
- A big screen that dominates the wall
- Somewhere to keep games tidy
For a family home near All Souls CofE Primary School, shelving with deep cupboards below keeps books, games and school things in one place.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Where they’ll park and unload
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
- Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
TV and media units in Fitzrovia: what you get
A built-in TV unit gives the screen, the boxes, the speakers and the cables one planned home. The wall is planned as a whole, rather than a stand with wires trailing behind it. For a living room in Fitzrovia, the first step is a design visit to measure up and look at your equipment. We make TV and media units from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and the usual reasons to get in touch are a tangle of wires behind the TV and a screen at the wrong height.
In a flat, one room often does the work of a living room, dining room and study. Around Fitzrovia, where most households live in purpose-built flats, TV and media units that use the height of the room help keep the floor clear. A shallow run on one wall can hold a lot without taking much floor.
You get the quote in writing, so there is time to read it properly and talk it over at home. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

What else we make in Fitzrovia
Built-in living-room furniture in Fitzrovia
Homes built before 1919 make up about 38% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Fitzrovia, with about 21% built since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. That matters for TV and media units, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Within a mile of the centre of Fitzrovia, 25 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Parking on many inner London streets is controlled, with zones run by each borough. So a van fitting furniture in Fitzrovia usually needs a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay arranged through the council. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.
If you live in a period home close to Whitefield's Tabernacle, walls that bow and floors that slope are why TV and media units are scribed to fit rather than pushed into place. Living in a block of flats near London Euston station? Then it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.
Fitzrovia is part of the London Borough of Camden, about 1 mile east of St Pancras. Wherever you are in Fitzrovia, it works the same way: we visit and measure, send a quote in writing, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. Our work takes in places right across Camden, large and small.
Here we cover the NW1W, W1T and W1G postcode area for TV and media units. We cover homes on streets like Euston Road, Duke's Road and Market Place, whether you want TV and media units or another piece made for the room. Main roads around Fitzrovia include the A501 and A4200. If your home is on one of them, tell us during the design visit, as some main roads have strict stopping rules. Neighbouring places we cover for TV and media units include Euston (1 mile north-east), Marylebone (1 mile south-west), Bloomsbury (1 mile east), Somers Town (1 mile north-east) and Soho (1 mile south-east). Other parts of Camden we cover include Hampstead (3 miles north-west), West Hampstead (3 miles north-west), Kentish Town (2 miles north), Greenhill (3 miles north-west), Chalk Farm (2 miles north) and Dartmouth Park (2 miles north).

For a walk, there’s St. James's Park Lake and Primrose Hill.
What affects the price in Fitzrovia
The price for your room depends on:
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- Parking and unloading on your street
- How many doors and drawers there are
- The overall size of the piece
Access to the room makes a difference too. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying, which the quote allows for. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit.
Getting in touch
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. When you contact us, it is useful to send:
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- What the furniture needs to hold
- Approximate measurements of the space
You do not need exact measurements to get started. We measure everything properly at the design visit, along with the walls, floor and ceiling. To get started, tell us about the room on our contact form. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.
How fitting works for TV and media units
On the morning of the fitting, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and your quote sets out the fitting days. With little room to spare in a flat, pieces come in as they’re needed. Floors are covered and dust is kept down. The fixings suit each wall, whether solid or stud.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room and your equipment, including the size of the screen.
- We visit to measure the wall and go through the design.
- You receive a quote in writing setting out the unit, materials and finish.
- Each section is built in our workshop to the measurements we took.
- The unit is fitted in your home, levelled and scribed to the walls. We check the doors and shelves with you before we leave.
Preparing the room
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room

Your questions about TV and media units in Fitzrovia
Is Fitzrovia in the area you cover for TV and media units?
Yes. We cover all of Camden and the rest of London, and Fitzrovia is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, and then we send a quote.
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Can you add sockets behind the TV?
Electrical work isn’t something we do. Sockets and wiring are for your electrician, and Part P of the Building Regulations covers some electrical work in homes. We tell you where the unit will sit so the sockets end up in the right place.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room, but it helps to be around at the end.
How do you get large furniture into a flat?
Getting it in is planned at the measuring visit. The stairs, landings, any lift and the doorways are measured, and the furniture is made in sections sized to get through.
Do I choose the paint colour?
The choice is yours, and it is agreed with you before painting. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
It’s worth being honest about cost: flat-pack is normally cheaper to buy. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is tricky, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
