Limehouse Walk-in Wardrobes

In Limehouse, we design walk-in wardrobes around the room you actually have. We design your walk-in wardrobe at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

  • Somewhere for shoes to live
  • Room for two wardrobes in one space
  • More space for clothes and shoes

About our walk-in wardrobes in Limehouse

You can have doors, open storage or a mix. Doors give a tidy, finished look and help keep dust away, while open storage lets you see everything at once. We’ll go through the options at the design visit. Most enquiries start with a bedroom without crowded wardrobes and somewhere to sit and get ready; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

Many newer homes have tall windows or full-height glazing in the bedroom, which leaves fewer walls for storage. Many homes around Limehouse were built since 2000, and fitted furniture can use every part of the solid walls. Corner sections are planned so nothing is wasted.

Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Walk-in wardrobes in Limehouse: local notes

The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Limehouse were built since 2000 (about 42%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 24%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. 21 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of central Limehouse. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mainly about the outside of buildings. Much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones run by the boroughs. In Limehouse, a van will typically need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. Tell us what parking is near you at the measuring visit.

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Church of St Anne, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent. Close to Bartlett Park? A bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls. If you live in a flat close to Limehouse station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.

Limehouse is about 2 miles west of Whitechapel, within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. We cover Limehouse as part of our work across Tower Hamlets, and the process is the same everywhere we work. We cover places right across Tower Hamlets, from the busiest high streets to quiet residential roads.

Design visits and fitting in E14, E3 and E1 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. Our area takes in homes on streets such as Oak Lane, Bale Road and Wharf Lane, for walk-in wardrobes and any of our other fitted furniture. Limehouse is near the A126, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you contact us. If you are just outside Limehouse, we also cover Bow Common (1 mile east), Mile End (1 mile north), Ratcliff (1 mile south-west), Stepney (1 mile west) and Shadwell (1 mile south-west). Elsewhere in Tower Hamlets, we also cover Whitechapel (2 miles west), Spitalfields (2 miles west), Tower Hill (2 miles west), Bethnal Green (2 miles north-west), Cambridge Heath (2 miles north-west) and Isle of Dogs (2 miles south).

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke

Cost matters, and it is fair to say so: off-the-shelf furniture usually costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.

Flats, conversions and lettings

Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them during the design visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.

Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations. We can’t give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.

What walk-in wardrobes cannot fix

We make and fit furniture, and we do not do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. Please bear these in mind too:

  • Painting the walls of the room
  • Lighting and wiring, which are for your electrician
  • Getting consent under your lease

If in doubt, you can drop us a line using the contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How it works.

What goes into it

  • Birch plywood
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Shoe storage
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hanging, shelves and drawers
  • Dressing table

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Limehouse

Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Limehouse?

Yes. Limehouse is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Tower Hamlets and London. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Limehouse?

It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.

Do you do the electrics?

No. Electrical work isn’t something we do; it is a job for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design, and new sockets should be in place before fitting day.

Can you put a walk-in wardrobe in part of a bedroom?

Yes, where the room is large enough. One end or a corner can be set aside with a run of units, with doors or left open. Any new partition is for your builder, and we fit the furniture.

What happens at the design visit?

We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a quote in writing.

Can I send photos before the visit?

Yes, they help. Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space. To send them, send us a few details through our contact form.

How fitting day works

Every fitting follows the same order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Fitting day starts by covering floors and setting out the sections. The pieces are levelled and fixed with fixings that suit the wall. Hand-painted finishes can be completed once the furniture is in.

  1. You get in touch and describe the room.
  2. At the design visit we agree the layout and check how the units will reach the room. It helps to mention parking then, as much of London has controlled parking zones.
  3. We send a written quote.
  4. Everything is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections that fit the route in.
  5. We carry the sections in, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls. The finish is sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.

How to prepare

  • Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through

Ask for a quote

It is useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, particularly with rough sizes. To send them over, message us from the contact page, and we will arrange a design visit.

Advice

Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Limehouse

There’s no set price, because there is no set room. The things that affect it are:

  • How square the room is
  • The internal fittings
  • The overall size of the piece
  • How many doors and drawers there are

Awkward rooms take more time: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. That’s reflected in the quote, which we write after seeing the room.

What we need to know

What helps most when you first contact us:

  • The type of home and how the room is reached
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
  • Any ideas or images you have saved

Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and talk through the design with you, then send a written quote. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
