Fitted wardrobes in North End, Camden

Fitted wardrobes for your home in North End: floor-to-ceiling wardrobes built to the shape of your bedroom. Each piece is designed at a visit to your home, made in our workshop and fitted by us.

  • A room too narrow for hinged doors
  • Wardrobes that are full to bursting
  • Clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms

Need fitted wardrobes in North End?

Is bespoke worth it?

Older homes rarely have straight walls or level floors. A standalone wardrobe can lean, rock or show tapering gaps. Ours are levelled on a plinth or adjustable feet and scribed to the walls. Ready-made pieces are proportioned for newer homes and can look lost in an older one, whereas fitted pieces can pick up the room’s height and mouldings.

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

Why us?

Fitted wardrobes in North End

You can choose hinged or sliding doors. With hinged doors, you see a full section when you open them, but they need clear space in front to swing. Sliding doors save that space in a narrow room, although only part of the wardrobe is open at a time. Which suits your room is something we talk through when we visit. If your home has standard wardrobes that don’t fill the wall and bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes, fitted wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.

Older London houses often have sash windows, and the window position and deep reveals affect where furniture can go. For one of the older homes that make up a large share of the housing around North End, we plan the layout so the window opens fully and the light still comes in. Doors are chosen and hung so they clear the bed, the radiator and the door to the room.

A written quote is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It sets out the fitted wardrobe designed for your room, what it’s made from and how it is finished, and it is what the workshop builds to.

Questions from North End

My home in North End is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?

At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Does a conservation area in or near North End affect fitted furniture?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can need listed building consent from the council. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.

What can go inside a fitted wardrobe?

It’s worked out with you when we measure, based on what you wear and how much of it there is. Adjustable shelves keep some flexibility for later.

Do you work on Saturdays?

Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you get in touch.

Do you do the electrics?

No. Electrical work is not something we do; it’s a job for your electrician. We can allow for cable routes in the design, and new sockets should be in place before fitting day.

Should I choose hinged or sliding wardrobe doors?

Both work well, depending on the space. Hinged doors open a whole section at once but need room in front to swing. We talk through both at the measuring visit.

Do you need fitted wardrobes in North End?

A move is a common trigger. Wardrobes from an old home rarely suit a new room, or may not make it up the stairs. Fitted wardrobes are designed for the room you have now.

Here’s what fitted wardrobes can help with:

  • An awkward slope in a loft bedroom
  • Mismatched bedroom furniture
  • Clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms
  • Bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes

If you live near Childs Hill Park, keeping fitted wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Real projects you can actually look at
  • Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
  • Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
  • Have they thought about parking near you?

Fitting day, step by step

There is not much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days. On fitting day, edges are trimmed on site to follow the walls, so a clear area to work in near the room helps. We keep dust down and tidy as we go. Hand painting, if that’s your finish, can follow the fitting.

  1. You tell us about the room, including any slopes, alcoves or windows. A rough sketch of the room helps if you have one.
  2. A design visit follows, where we measure and agree the layout.
  3. A written quote follows. It lists what’s inside each wardrobe as well as the doors.
  4. Once you are happy, the wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for spraying or for hand painting on site.
  5. The wardrobes are fitted in your home, ready to use. We adjust the doors so they hang and close evenly.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking near your home
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know

Arranging a design visit

To get a quote, send us a few details through our contact form and tell us a little about the room and what you want the furniture to do. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and a written quote follows.

Caring for painted furniture

A few practical points help before and after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Check how much space there is in front for doors to open
  • Mention if the wardrobe will go on an external wall
  • Ask your electrician about moving sockets early
  • Move furniture away from the wardrobe wall ahead of time

Leave a little space between clothes and the back of the wardrobe. Air moving through helps avoid condensation and mould.

Every so often, check that nothing has worked loose.

Flats, conversions and lettings

For flats on red routes or busy main roads, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so let us know about it at the design visit.

If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you.
